Frankétienne, Father of Haitian Letters, Is Busier Than Ever - The He wrote what many consider the first modern novel entirely in Haitian Creole, “Dezafi,” in 1975, and a play well known here that challenged political oppression, “Pelin Tet.” It is a biting work from 1978 that is aimed, not so subtly, at Jean- Claude Duvalier, the son of the dictator François Duvalier and himself  Frankétienne : Dézafi - VERS LES ILES GÉRARD BARTHÉLÉMY : C'est en utilisant une langue créole paysanne, à la fois riche, authentique et truculente, parfois même hermétique pour l'élite citadine , que l'auteur [de] Dézafi a essayé d'exprimer un certain nombre de concepts, d' émotions et de sensations pratiquement intraduisibles en français : « le Dezafi,  Dezafi Dezafi. On donne ci-dessous un court extrait de Dézafi, roman de Franketienne, publié en 1975 en créole, et traduit en français en 1979. On notera qu'il n'y a pas véritablement traduction mais recréation d'une oeuvre, comme le précise Franketienne dans l'avant-propos de son roman français Les affres d'un défi (on   Les Affres d'un défi - Vents d'ailleurs Prix Prince Claus 2006 pour l'ensemble de son œuvre.
